WHERE WE WORK

The buildings we work in

Hospitals, care homes, clinics and surgeries — healthcare estates run on ageing plant rooms, service risers and ducts where lagged pipework, gaskets and AIB panels from the 1950s to 80s still survive.
We work in live clinical environments: removal phased ward by ward, infection prevention and control coordinated with your estates and IPC teams, out-of-hours enclosures, and handover documentation that satisfies both CQC scrutiny and your asbestos register.

Working around patients and residents

Hospitals, GP surgeries, dental practices and care homes are the most sensitive buildings we work in. Occupants can’t simply be moved, many are vulnerable or unwell, and clinical services have to keep running. Our healthcare teams plan every removal with the people in the building as the first constraint: phased enclosures, escorted access routes, agreed quiet hours, and constant liaison with ward, practice or home managers so nothing happens unannounced.
Infection control is treated as seriously as asbestos control. Work areas are sealed and held under negative pressure, access is managed to keep dust, equipment and personnel away from clinical and resident areas, and cleaning and handback protocols are agreed with your infection-control lead before we start. Out-of-hours and weekend working keeps disruption to treatment schedules to a minimum, and management surveys can be run without closing a single clinic.

Strict clearance before re-occupation

No area is handed back to patients, residents or staff without independent air monitoring and four-stage clearance. Certificates, consignment notes and method statements are supplied for your compliance file and CQC evidence, and where a material is better left in place we can encapsulate and record it in your asbestos register instead.

FREQUENTLY ASKED

Healthcare questions, answered

01Can you work in occupied healthcare and care settings?
Yes — occupied hospitals, clinics and care homes are core work for us. Removal areas are fully sealed and segregated, access is escorted and scheduled with your managers, and vulnerable occupants are kept well away from the works at all times.
02How do you manage infection control?
We agree protocols with your infection-control lead before work starts: sealed enclosures, managed access routes, dedicated equipment, and cleaning and handback procedures that meet clinical standards as well as asbestos regulations.
03Can you work out of hours to avoid disruption?
Yes. Nights, weekends and low-activity periods are standard for healthcare clients, so clinics and care routines carry on uninterrupted.
04What clearance standards do you work to before an area is reused?
Every licensed removal area passes an independent four-stage clearance — visual inspection and air testing by a UKAS-accredited analyst — before the enclosure comes down. You receive the certificate before the area is re-occupied.
05Can you work in live plant rooms and risers?
Yes — isolation and access phased with your estates team under permit-to-work, out-of-hours where services cannot be interrupted, and handback agreed area by area.
06Do you work to healthcare technical guidance?
Our RAMS align with the relevant HTM guidance and your estates policies, and we build method statements around clinical continuity rather than asking wards to fit around us.
07What about care homes with residents in situ?
Sealed work areas, alternative circulation routes and close liaison with the care manager — planned to keep residents safe and routines undisturbed.
08How fast can you attend an accidental disturbance?
Rapid response make-safe, air monitoring and a documented incident report — giving your team the evidence trail CQC and your board will expect.
09Do you coordinate with infection prevention and control?
Yes — RAMS shared with IPC before mobilisation, containment and negative pressure methods compatible with clinical controls, and agreed cleaning and handback protocols.
10Can works be phased around clinical schedules?
Ward-by-ward and night working with agreed handbacks per phase — theatres, wards and clinics keep running while the estate is cleared.
