Licensed asbestos removal at an occupied convent and community building, phased sensitively around residents with protected routes and out-of-hours working. Enclosures, negative pressure and independent clearance on completion.
Our licensed operatives worked to a site-specific plan of work with decontamination facilities on site, continuous air monitoring at the enclosure perimeter, and a full compliance pack — consignment notes, air test results and clearance certificate — issued at handover.

A site visit was undertaken at Greenleach Lane, Worsley to assess the extent of the asbestos removal works required. The survey identified asbestos insulating board (AIB) to the ceiling within the open-plan basement across three rooms, requiring licensed removal under controlled conditions. The scope also included the removal of two AIB-lined doors and an AIB door header.
Within the enclosures, the painted wall surfaces were scraped back as far as reasonably practicable to remove any loose or flaking paint. The enclosure was established with full negative-pressure systems, airlocks and decontamination units in accordance with the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012 and the HSG247 Licensed Contractors’ Guide.
Licensed asbestos removal was carried out under fully controlled conditions. Manual-handling, slips, trips and noise risks were managed throughout — including the movement of sheeting, timber and equipment in confined areas and the positioning of negative pressure units and vacuums — supported by independent UKAS-accredited air monitoring in accordance with CAR 2012 and HSG247.
The works were carried out within partly congested plant rooms with fixed boilers, pipework and services, which restricted access and called for careful, methodical working throughout.
All arisings were double-bagged and removed as hazardous asbestos waste under consignment note to a licensed disposal facility, with a full documentation pack issued to the client on completion.
