In commercial buildings the question is rarely one tile — it is a whole grid, plus whatever sits above it: old lagging debris, AIB packers, sprayed steel. Before recabling, fit-outs or dilapidations work, the ceiling void needs checking as part of a
refurbishment survey, because pushing tiles up to look is exactly the disturbance that releases fibres. Where tiles test as AIB we programme licensed removal out of hours or in phases so trading and teaching carry on; where they are lower-risk board, controlled non-licensed removal is quicker and cheaper.
