Pipe insulation removal at Moorcock House

A completed Innov8 UK Group project in Clitheroe — delivered safely, documented fully and handed back on programme.
THE PROJECT

What we did

Licensed removal of asbestos pipe insulation, one of the highest-risk materials, under full enclosure with continuous air monitoring. Areas decontaminated and independently cleared, returning a certified asbestos-free home.

As a higher-risk licensed material, the insulation was removed inside a sealed enclosure under negative pressure with continuous air monitoring, HSE notification handled end to end, and independent clearance certification before handback.

If you need licensed asbestos removal or asbestos removal in Clitheroe, Innov8 UK Group covers the whole of the UK from bases in Manchester, Carlisle and London — surveyed properly, quoted fixed and documented fully.

Scope of works & method

Overview of project and why the works are required
Summary of Licensed Asbestos Works at Moorcock House

Innov8 conducted a site assessment at Moorcock House on the agreed date, with asbestos removal works scheduled from 02 to the agreed date.

The project involves the licensed removal and disposal of amosite (thermal insulation) from redundant 30 mm isolated water pipework. This includes 15.1m from the lounge, hallway, toilet, and wall; 14.7m from Room 1 and wall; 4.4m from Room 2; and 6.0m from the toilet/hall area. All work was carried out under fully controlled conditions using the wrap-and-cut method, wet spraying, and shadow vacuuming. Minor works of breaking out sections of Wallwork was required to access pipework travelling upstairs, A full environmental clean of all affected areas is included.

IUG established a sealed enclosure with negative pressure and a decontamination unit and ensure the use of appropriate PPE and RPE. All asbestos waste was double-bagged, labelled, and transported by licensed carriers. Air monitoring was conducted during, and after works, with final clearance provided by a UKAS-accredited analyst.

HOW THE ASBESTOS AND NON-ASBESTOS RISKS WERE CONTROLLED

Asbestos and non-asbestos risks were controlled through sealed enclosures, negative pressure units, air monitoring, and PPE use. Non-asbestos hazards like slips, trips, or manual handling was managed via risk assessments, site supervision, training, and safe systems of work. All controls comply with HSE regulations and best practice.

OBSTRUCTIONS MAKING ACCESS AND THE WORKS MORE DIFFICULT Access to pipework travelling from the lounge to the first floor is obstructed by a solid wall section. Controlled breaking out of this wall was required to expose and access the pipe insulation. This was conducted carefully under controlled conditions prior to asbestos removal activities.
