A site visit was carried out on the agreed date by our project manager in relation to the proposed refurbishment and conversion of the former social club into a nursery facility. Following the site inspection, the licensed asbestos removal works were awarded for the removal and disposal of approximately 200m² of Asbestos Insulating Board (AIB) ceiling panels under fully controlled conditions in accordance with the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012, HSG247 and current industry best practice. Due to the location of the premises between an operational church and primary school, additional control measures were implemented throughout the project to ensure the safety of neighbouring occupants, staff, visitors and members of the public. The works were undertaken within fully enclosed negative pressure enclosures by trained and competent licensed asbestos personnel, with all asbestos waste securely removed from site and disposed of at a licensed hazardous waste facility following completion of the works.
Heras fencing segregation complete with asbestos warning signage was installed where required to establish secure exclusion zones and prevent unauthorised access to the work areas. All access and waste transit routes were carefully managed and monitored throughout the duration of the project to minimise disruption and maintain site safety at all times. Waste runs were undertaken during school class times to minimise interaction with parents, children and pedestrian traffic during peak drop-off and collection periods.
The asbestos risks associated with the removal of the AIB ceiling panels were controlled through the use of fully enclosed negative pressure enclosures, controlled wet removal techniques, Class H vacuum cleaners and strict decontamination procedures in accordance with the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012 and HSG247.
