The removal sequence was planned to keep the rest of the building unaffected — protected transit routes, a controlled enclosure with negative pressure, hygiene facilities on site and every waste movement consignment-noted to a licensed facility.

Following a recent enquiry from an independent surveying company Northwest, IUG were requested to attend St Mary’s West Derby CE Primary School on the agreed date to carry out a site visit in relation to licensed asbestos materials requiring removal to facilitate upcoming refurbishment works within the boiler room and associated service areas.
In attendance were representatives from RB Mechanical Services (fit-out contractors) and the school caretaker. During the inspection, an asbestos insulating board (AIB) ceiling measuring approximately 10m² was identified within the external standalone boiler room. No asbestos debris is present, allowing safe entry and a thorough inspection of the room. A scope of works was agreed on-site, and the client confirmed IUG to proceed with the removal at the earliest opportunity.
The asbestos removal works commenced on the agreed date and are expected to take three days to complete. This programme ensures that all asbestos materials were fully removed before the return of pupils on the agreed date, enabling RB Mechanical Services to undertake their refurbishment works immediately afterwards.
The AIB removal was carried out under fully controlled conditions, within a purpose-built enclosure operating under negative pressure. The premises remained unoccupied during the works, other than periodic caretaker visits (with attendance available on a call-out basis, (approximately 10 minutes from site). All works were conducted in full compliance with the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012.
Licensed asbestos removal was carried out under fully controlled conditions.
