Soft strip demolition means taking a building back to its structural shell: ceilings, partitions, raised floors, M&E services, fixtures and cladding removed and segregated for recycling ahead of refurbishment or demolition. Our teams strip retail units, offices, schools, hospitals, mills and industrial premises under full CDM 2015 control, with dust suppression, waste transfer notes and daily progress reporting — so main contractors and developers in Manchester, Liverpool, Leeds, Birmingham and London can build to programme.

For mechanical and structural demolition we plan every job around Section 80/81 demolition notices, temporary works design, service disconnections and neighbour protection — then deliver it through our vetted demolition partners, managed end to end by Innov8. Soft strip: back to the frame

Soft strip takes a building back to its structure — ceilings, partitions, M&E, floor coverings, fixtures — ready for refurbishment or demolition proper. Done well it is surgical: services safely isolated, waste streams segregated at source, salvage value recovered rather than skipped.

Done badly it is where asbestos gets found by accident. Which is why ours starts with the R&D survey, not the crowbar.

Asbestos and demolition, one contractor

Pre-demolition asbestos removal and the demolition itself are usually two contractors arguing about an interface. As a licensed asbestos contractor that demolishes, we carry both — survey, strip, remove, pull down — under one contract and one programme.

No standoff when an unexpected material turns up mid-job: our own teams deal with it and the programme absorbs it.

Method, not muscle

Structural demolition here is engineered: method statements from temporary works down, exclusion zones modelled, dust and vibration monitored, neighbours informed before machines arrive. High-reach, munching and hand demolition to suit the structure and its surroundings.

Party walls, live roads and retained facades are our normal working conditions, not exceptions.

Waste as a resource

A demolition project is mostly a materials-handling exercise: concrete crushed for re-use on site, metals to merchants, hazardous streams consigned. We report diversion-from-landfill percentages that planning conditions and BREEAM assessors increasingly demand.

Do you remove asbestos before demolition?

Yes — this is our core strength. A refurbishment and demolition (R&D) survey identifies all asbestos first, our HSE-licensed teams remove it, and the same contract then moves straight into soft strip and demolition. You deal with one contract and one manager from survey to clearance — no programme gap, one set of paperwork.

What is soft strip demolition?

Soft strip is the removal of everything non-structural — ceilings, partitions, floor coverings, fixtures, M&E services and cladding — taking the building back to a clean structural shell ready for refurbishment or full demolition. Materials are segregated on site to maximise recycling.

Do you handle demolition notices and permits?

Yes. We prepare and submit Section 80 demolition notices, respond to Section 81 conditions, arrange service disconnections and produce the demolition plan, RAMS and temporary works documentation required under CDM 2015 and BS 6187.

How much does demolition cost?

It depends on size, construction, asbestos content, access and how much material can be recycled — salvage value can offset cost. We survey, then give a fixed written quote, usually within 24 hours, with no hidden extras.

Are you insured and accredited for demolition?

Yes — £10m public and employer’s liability cover, a full HSE asbestos licence and EA waste carrier registration. Mechanical demolition is carried out by our vetted supply chain partners, who hold the relevant demolition accreditations and insurances and work under Innov8 management on every project.
