Scope of works & method

Overview of project and why the works are required

Following a site visit on the agreed date by our project manager of Innov8 UK Group, together with the principal contractor’s representative and Jamie Rothwell of the principal contractor, the scope of works and site logistics were jointly reviewed and confirmed. Asbestos-containing materials identified within the Kitchen, WC, Old Battery Room, Rear Lobby and Relay Room were removed under controlled conditions. The roof pitch provides a restricted ceiling void, with the highest point approximately 1 metre above the ceiling. To maintain control and minimise disturbance, the plasterboard ceiling panels coated with textured was removed in a phased, panel-by-panel sequence.

To ensure operational continuity, two asbestos-trained the client engineers remained on standby and may enter the enclosure under the supervision of Innov8 UK Group supervisor our project manager should urgent maintenance be required. Innov8 UK Group can mobilise to site within one hour of notification. The works included removal of ceilings in the identified rooms, followed by the removal of floor tiles and underlying bitumen to the extent reasonably practicable up to the Relay Room. A full fine clean of all affected areas were then carried out under controlled conditions to ensure complete decontamination of equipment and surfaces. As these rooms operate continuously, all debris and residues were tightly managed to prevent contamination, with airborne fibre levels strictly controlled throughout.

HOW THE ASBESTOS AND NON-ASBESTOS RISKS WERE CONTROLLED

A purpose-built enclosure was erected at the relay room and maintained under continuous negative pressure using suitably sized NPU, incorporating a 1-stage air/bag lock. The working compound adhered to the agreed layout to ensure the residential estate remains operational with controlled vehicle movements.

OBSTRUCTIONS MAKING ACCESS AND THE WORKS MORE DIFFICULT Access and work activities are constrained by three live relay switchboards within the Relay Room. These units remained operational throughout the project and was fully sheeted and physically segregated from the work area to ensure safety. This s
