56 linear metres of AIB soffit board removed at Avondale

A completed Innov8 UK Group project in Manley, Cheshire — delivered safely, documented fully and handed back on programme.
THE PROJECT

What we did

56 linear metres of AIB soffit board removed from the roofline of this rural Cheshire property, wrapped and disposed with full paperwork. The roofline was left weather-tight and ready for replacement soffits, with minimal disruption.

Trained, medical-cleared operatives carried out the removal under full RPE and controlled wetting, with the enclosure air-tested throughout and dismantled only after independent clearance certification.

Innov8 UK Group provides licensed asbestos removal and asbestos removal in Manley for homeowners, businesses and main contractors alike, working UK-wide from depots in Manchester, Carlisle and London.

Scope of works & method

OVERVIEW AND JUSTIFICATION FOR THE WORKS

A site visit was carried out on the agreed date by our project manager in relation to the proposed refurbishment of the property. Following the site inspection, the licensed asbestos removal works were awarded for the removal and disposal of approximately 56 linear metres of Asbestos Insulating Board (AIB) soffit board to the external roofline perimeter of the bungalow under fully controlled conditions in accordance with the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012, HSG247 and current industry best practice. As the premises is a domestic detached bungalow with neighbouring residential properties in the vicinity, additional control measures were implemented throughout the project to ensure the safety of neighbouring occupants, residents, visitors and members of the public. The works were undertaken within fully enclosed negative pressure enclosures by trained and competent licensed asbestos personnel, with all asbestos waste securely removed from site and disposed of at a licensed hazardous waste facility following completion of the works.

All access and waste transit routes were carefully managed and monitored throughout the duration of the project to minimise disruption and maintain site safety at all times.

HOW THE ASBESTOS AND NON-ASBESTOS RISKS WERE CONTROLLED

The asbestos risks associated with the removal of the AIB soffit board was controlled through the use of fully enclosed negative pressure enclosures, controlled wet removal techniques, Class H vacuum cleaners and strict decontamination procedures in accordance with the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012 and HSG247. Non-asbestos risks were controlled through effective site segregation using Heras fencing and asbestos warning signage, controlled access and waste transit routes, good housekeeping and daily supervision throughout the project. Due to the proximity of the neighbouring residential area, waste runs were undertaken during agreed low-traffic periods to minimise interaction with site personnel and operational site traffic.
