Summer is peak season for garage clear-outs, shed demolitions and “let’s finally sort that roof” weekends — and it’s also when we get the most calls that start with “I’ve already pulled half of it down…”
If your garage or shed went up before 2000, there’s a strong chance the corrugated roof, wall sheets or soffits are asbestos cement. Left alone and intact, they’re low risk. But breaking sheets up, dragging them off the roof, or blasting the moss off with a jet wash releases fibres — and every one of those is a mistake we see each summer.
The good news: asbestos garage roof removal is usually quick, non-licensed work with a fixed price — most are done in a day, disposal and paperwork included. Check the roof first, then enjoy the clear-out.
