Salt-laden wind does no favours to asbestos cement. Along the coast at Blackpool and Southport, we regularly see corrugated roofs, soffits and outbuildings weathered far faster than their inland equivalents — surfaces gone chalky, edges fretting, moss working into the grain. Weathered cement releases fibres more readily, which is why coastal garages, guest houses and seafront commercial buildings deserve a check sooner rather than later.
The good news: weathering doesn’t mean panic. Sound sheets can often stay; deteriorated ones are usually a straightforward, fixed-price removal. If your property has original pre-2000 roofing and you’re within sight of the sea, a quick photo is enough for us to give you an honest steer — and a fixed price if work’s needed.
