September 2025 saw Innov8 UK Group working across multiple premises on the Network Rail estate at once — a cluster of projects spanning stations and signalling buildings in Yorkshire and the Midlands. Together they show why the railway has become one of our core specialisms.
At a maintenance depot in Newark, our team removed 36 square metres of AIB ceiling from a generator room. The complication was the live generator plant itself, which had to be boxed in, sealed and ventilated in place while the enclosure was built around it. An out-of-hours team worked to a rapid response window so that access could be granted under fully controlled conditions without affecting the depot's operation.
At a power signal box in Sheffield, the scope was smaller but more intricate — a mix of licensed and non-licensed items including AIB door headers and packers to a ground-floor relay-room trench, plus investigation works within a basement enclosure to determine the extent of AIB. Working inside a live signalling building demands precision and minimal footprint.
At Leeds station, our teams combined removal and encapsulation — removing AIB remnants and floor tiles within a smoke-tested enclosure, then applying a two-coat encapsulation to the remaining ceiling, all on a tight programme in a busy city-centre station. At an operational building in Doncaster, we tackled the largest scope of the group: a whole-building mixed inventory of AIB and non-licensed materials, including scaffolded high-level work to a boiler room.
Railway premises share a common thread — live infrastructure, restricted access, tight working windows and zero tolerance for disruption. Delivering licensed asbestos removal in that environment takes meticulous planning and the discipline to leave every site secure and clean.
