Can You Stay In Your Home During Asbestos Removal?.

Garage roofs, soffits and fascias, sheds and outbuildings: the work happens outside the living space, with the area cordoned off. Stay home, keep windows on that side closed while sheets come down, keep children and pets away from the exclusion zone — that is normally the whole ask.

For jobs like floor tiles or a bath panel the working area is sealed and protected, with a controlled route in and out. You can usually stay in the rest of the house; the room itself is out of bounds until we hand it back cleaned and checked.

Where an enclosure goes up in a living space — licensed removal of lagging, AIB or insulation — it is usually best to arrange to be out during working hours. Depending on the layout, evenings at home are often still possible; we will tell you straight when they are not.

Exclusion zones marked and physically sealed, floor and route protection from the door to the work area, waste double-bagged and taken straight out — never stored in the house — and a tidy handback at the end of every working day. You should be able to live around the job, not camp inside it.

Whole-house jobs, work in the only kitchen or bathroom, or enclosure work where the negative pressure unit has to run through the night. Even then it is typically days, and we programme the intrusive phase tightly so you are back fast. Can I stay home while a garage roof is removed?

Almost always yes. The work is external, the area around the garage is cordoned, and the main practical step is keeping that side of the house closed up while sheets are handled.

Can I use the rest of the house during internal work?

Usually. The work area is sealed with a controlled access route, and the rest of the house stays yours. The affected room is out of bounds until it is cleaned, checked and handed back.

Will I need to move out for licensed work?

For enclosure work in living spaces, plan to be out during working hours at minimum. Whether evenings at home work depends on the layout and the negative pressure setup — we tell you before you accept the quote, not after.
