FAQS · REMOVAL & PROCESS
What certificates should I receive after asbestos removal?.
A compliant asbestos removal job ends with paperwork, and the paperwork is not a formality — it is the only proof the work was done legally. At minimum you should receive the hazardous waste consignment note for every waste movement; for licensed work you should also receive the independent four-stage clearance certificate (certificate of reoccupation) and air test results.
If a contractor cannot produce these, the price you paid bought you a liability, not a removal.

PAPERWORK
The waste consignment note
Every movement of asbestos waste requires a consignment note identifying the waste, the producer (you or your project), the registered carrier and the licensed facility that received it. Your copy must be kept for at least three years. It is the document that proves your asbestos did not end up fly-tipped in a lay-by with your address on the paperwork trail.
The certificate of reoccupation
After licensed enclosure work, an independent UKAS-accredited analyst inspects and air-tests the area through the four-stage clearance procedure. The resulting certificate of reoccupation is what makes it legal and safe to take the enclosure down and let people back in. It should name the area, the date, the analyst and the air test results — file it with the building records permanently.
Air testing results
Where reassurance or clearance air testing was carried out, the results should be handed over showing the sampled locations and readings against the 0.01 fibres/ml clearance indicator. On non-licensed jobs air testing is not always required, but where your project specified it, the results belong in your pack.
The rest of the pack
A complete handover also includes the plan of work / RAMS the job ran to, the HSE notification reference for licensed or NNLW work, and an updated asbestos register entry where the building has one. We compile all of it as standard on every project — it is the same pack our commercial clients' auditors ask for.
